چکیده
The emerging environmental problem in the tanning industry is disposal of chromium-contaminated sludge soil. In Walajapet Taluk Vellore District, distribution and mobility chromium soils surrounding tannery waste region were explored. This paper presents soil contamination agricultural lands located SIPCOT Industrial complex near India. 64 samples collected from 15 different villages, analyzed for pH, EC, total chromium, hexavalent, trivalent chromium. Studies carried out to find due industrial effluents. It found that 75 % highly contaminated, posing a risk lands, based on comparison with WHO standards. majority (>80%) locations exhibited high Cr (>200 mg kg-1) concentrations exceeded maximum permissible limit. Furthermore, taken tanneries revealed effluent has significant impact. facts strongly demonstrate existence hazardous resulting severe deterioration land. As result, developing an effective plan implementing suitable remediation technique address heavy metals critical.

Speciation of Chromium in Soil and Sludge in the Surrounding Tannery Region, Ranipet, Tamil Nadu
The distribution and mobility of chromium in the soils and sludge surrounding a tannery waste dumping area was investigated to evaluate its vertical and lateral movement of operational speciation which was determined in six steps to fractionate the material in the soil and sludge into (i) water soluble, (ii) exchangeable, (iii) carbonate bound, (iv) reducible, (v) oxidizable, and (vi) residual ...

متن کاملDistribution of chromium contamination and microbial activity in soil aggregates.
Biogeochemical transformations of redox-sensitive chemicals in soils can be strongly transport-controlled and localized. This was tested through experiments on chromium diffusion and reduction in soil aggregates that were exposed to chromate solutions. Reduction of soluble Cr(VI) to insoluble Cr(II) occurred only within the surface layer of aggregates with higher available organic carbon and hi...

The distribution and speciation of As and Cr in a contaminated soil were studied by synchrotron-based X-ray microfluorescence (μ-XRF), microfocused X-ray absorption spectroscopy (μ-XAS), and bulk extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (EXAFS). The soil was taken from a park in Wilmington, DE, which had been an important center for the leather tanning industry along the Atlantic s...
